I was able to engage in one of my favorite pastimes this past weekend - spending hours on end digging through used vinyl with the sole goal of hoping to find something interesting.

 

It was Saturday night, and I'd been invited to see Hazel Gaze, a fantastic band I've written about a few times here, at The Bitter End. The show, however, had a late start time, with doors being at 9pm.

 

Whenever I attend a show at The Bitter End I like to arrive in the city early enough to head to Generation Records, and dig through the absurd amount of used vinyl, and CDs in their lower level. With the show not starting until late, I had PLENTY of time for digging, and wound up picking up seven albums from their $2 bins. Yes, that's seven albums for $14.

 

My process down there is that when I see an album that looks like it might be interesting I do a quick Google search. Reception is awful downstairs at Generation Records, so sometimes it takes a little while to get any info, but all I need is one little nugget that will either point me in the direction of adding it to my stack, or putting it back in the rack (yes, the rhyme was intentional, because … skills).
