Hello, Funky Forest Dweller,
🥌The Winter Olympics🏒
I've been enjoying watching the Winter Olympics while I worked these past few weeks. I have immense admiration for all the athletes voluntarily throwing themselves across snow and ice to show off their talents.
Speed skating is a big part of Dutch sports history, though I think it's a miracle no one has ever lost their fingers during short track. *shudders*. And while ice hockey is very popular in our genre—on paper, at least—I prefer biathlon, snowboard and ski tricks, and curling.
I know there are a lot of jokes about the brooms, but the tactical skill and the precision of placing the stones is just... captivating.
There are plenty of books about hot ice hockey players, but if you're in for some hot Scot-Canadian curling action, then I have just the recommendation for you (for only 99 cents right now).
Avery Cockburn - Throwing Stones
It's less gritty than her football series, but very entertaining.
✍️ What's Blaine working on?
I'm settling into my new writing system, and I hope to get a big chunk of The Songs We Owe done by next weekend. The deadline is looming...
On Wednesday, I'm joining one of my best friends and Eldest in doing some Pokemon Go raids. Though I've been playing on and off since 2016, I've only recently picked it up again. (I totally blame Eldest for that).
If you're into Pokemon Go and would like to be friends, I'm Cayendi there, and my friend code is: 945899349237.
Question of the week: What is your favourite Winter Olympics sport or Pokemon? Feel free to email me, and I'll tell you my favourite Pokemon.
Until next week,
Blaine
