BOS newsletter 10th Nov 2025

Dear All

I understand that it was communicated some months ago (prior to my appointment) that, after a distinguished and dedicated tenure as our BSO leader, Caroline would be stepping back at the end of this season.  The search has now started for her replacement (with which she is kindly assisting), and the advert for the position can be found on our website, our social media and the Making Music website: Leader - Bedfordshire Symphony Orchestra | Making Music  If you know of anyone who could be interested, please do pass on the details.

As you are aware, we’re in the last few days prior to our concert and need to sell more tickets. Please do like and share all relevant posts, email and talk to friends, relations and enemies(!) and do all you can to get people to come along. It’s always nicer to play to a full house and they WILL enjoy it!

Committee News:

Message from Jo, Treasurer:

Dear Friends

Further to the good news I was able to bring last week about the grant funding for two new (second hand) timps, I’m now delighted to be able to tell you that we have been successful in being awarded a grant of £15,000 by Wixamtree Trust. The grant will be spread equally over the next three years, but can be used for “the BOS Musical development programme” which gives us lots of freedom to think about how we would like the Society to develop in the coming years.

I need to thank Tony Ploszajski for preparing and submitting the application for us and Julian Polhill for some timely guidance about possible sources of funding for BOS.

The Committee will be working on the broad strategic direction for the Society in the next few months and I’m sure that we would welcome any thoughts and suggestions which you may have. Do contact me on [email protected] with your ideas or come and chat during rehearsal breaks.

Very best wishes to all

Jo
