Hello,
In the heat of this pandemic, I easily feel lazy, get tired, experience mood swings, and eat a LOT (not that it’s a bad thing, more like stress eat. Where has thy exercise gone?)
Can you relate? No matter how eager and desirous we are to be our best, things just don’t work out that way. Disappointment sets in.
Even our relationships can, at times, add to the stress we feel because of rough encounters, conflicts, and misunderstandings.
I admit that I can be too hard on myself at times and forget that neither I nor my relationships are meant to be perfect in the first place, so it is easy for me to fall into this vicious cycle of thinking and feeling I’m better off alone and isolated...
This has happened all too often during the lockdown.
, have you ever felt this way too?
But how much of all that is actually true?
In the midst of life, and the temptation to think that I am not enough, not loved, and better left alone, what left is there to be done?
Based on experience, starting with little things can help, although with great effort:
- Drinking water
- Eating a nutritious breakfast
- Standing every now and then from the work desk and walking or stretching
- Listening to music
- Watching Hospital Playlist or other shows :D
- Taking a warm, relaxing shower at the end of the day; and
- Permitting myself to rest and reminding myself to sleep on time and leave the rest in the hands of God (my personal favorite)
Honestly, it is almost impossible to carry these out alone, and that’s why I am indebted to my friends and family for “bugging” me about them.
Even when I’m in the middle of a meeting, they bring me food; after dinner, they often insist “let’s watch now!” and they encourage me to be healthy and remind me to just have fun.
These are the utterly valuable invitations and actions of others I’m extremely thankful for during this pandemic.
Equally thankful am I for learning that God lifts us up from our miseries by making us a communion of persons- a family.
God, Who has fatherly concern for everyone, has willed that all men should constitute one family and treat one another in a spirit of brotherhood. (Gaudium Et Spes, 24)
“It is not good that man is alone (Gen 2:18)... Alone, man does not completely realize this essence. He realizes it only by existing ‘with someone’- and, put even more deeply and completely, by existing ‘for someone.’…They point out how fundamental and constitutive the relationship and the communion of persons is for man.” (TOB 14:2)
So now, even as you and I go through the worst of times (and the best times, too!), we're not alone.
We are united with our brothers (and sisters) in faith!
Surely, no one can take away the peace of knowing this Truth: of God, Our Loving Father.
He is as much your Father as He is mine. Awesome, right?
You are welcome to let me know how others have been a big help to you and how your faith has strengthened during this pandemic.
Looking forward to hearing your wonderful stories 😄
Sincerely,
Cathy
