Keeping close to Jesus in obedience

Hi ,

Kumusta ka na?

It’s already the 19th of the month - the perfect time to reflect on our spiritual father, Saint Joseph!

In fact, in less than 3 weeks, patapos na ang Year of Saint Joseph! But it doesn’t mean we should stop reflecting on Jesus’ earthly father.

He’s a model of Theology of the Body (TOB)! And I think one of the reasons why is because of his outstanding obedience.

One of the themes Pope St. John Paul II included in his teachings is when Our Lord appeals to our hearts.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church says that “the desire for God is written in the human heart.”

Ang ganda noh? If we truly live up to the image and likeness of God in us, that if we value the language and gift of our bodies and ourselves, parang kagaya na natin si St. Joseph as how he was to Our Lady!

At lahat yan ay possible dahil sa obedience.

Sa tingin ko, makakatulong si St. Joseph sapagkat sa Nativity scene (imagine natin) na habang nagpapahinga si Mama Mary, Jesus would be in the arms of St. Joseph!

How close was the Child Jesus to the human heart of Joseph! How far then could St. Joseph be from doing the will of God?

Obedience boils down on that one thing - that we seek and do the will of God in our everyday mundane lives.

Pope Francis wrote in his letter Patris Corde (With a Father’s Heart), “In every situation, Joseph declared his own “fiat”, like those of Mary at the Annunciation and Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.”

Hindi ka ba nakikilig? Eto pa!

Sabi niya, “In his role as the head of a family, Joseph taught Jesus to be obedient to his parents, in accordance with God’s command.“

Makes perfect sense right? Who else would teach the virtue of obedience to Jesus than Joseph himself?

Now really is the time of Saint Joseph, so let us go and be “apparitions” of him!

May Saint Joseph be a model for us in living TOB and especially the virtue of obedience.

All the best ka-kiligers,

Kiko
