My romantasy Into the Bargain has a lot of fairy tale references. Most of them are hidden.
How many were you able to find?
The contest is officially over β congratulations to Louiz, who won the Cinderella brooch! β but it's never too late to go on the quest and test your skills for fun, if you haven't already.
Once you've read the book, compare your finds to this β¨ TOP SECRET β¨ list to see how you did.
What did you catch? What, if anything, did you miss? Would you quibble with any of them? (I let some myths and legends slip in there. Louiz was one of only two people who caught the stealth Robin Hood reference, by the by.)
Congratulations as well to everyone who entered and found a number of the fairy tales. A good many of the 50 (!) I tucked into the story were well hidden, so it's cool that you close readers figured out all that you did.
Two sharp-eyed people tied for the title of Fairy Tale Finder Extraordinaire by ferreting out 27 apiece. Huzzah for Linda Lassman from Winnipeg, who also had the distinction of being the very first entrant (speedy!), and for the reader who recognized the Sweet Porridge reference (you know who you are).
If you didn't get around to entering, you can still play for bragging rights.
Just don't look at the TOP SECRET list above until you've found all you can.
(Really, no peeking.)
Then hit reply to tell me which ones you found. I'll send you a bragging-rights printable bookmark and social images if you come up with at least seven.
