That's the feeling I got from L. Penelope's Earthsinger Chronicles, a fantasy series with multilayered plots that are at once very original and a mirror for our own world, with characters you keep thinking about and wonderful romances. Yes, romances plural, because several couples' stories twine through the books.
I spent a fun evening recently chatting with another fantasy romance author, Vela Roth, about how much we enjoy this series.
You see, the final book — Requiem of Silence — is out today. We're excited!
I don't want to spoil the earlier books by giving you the summary to this one. Here's what the first novel is about:
Orphaned and alone, Jasminda lives in a land where whispers of invasion and war linger on the wind. She is an outcast in her homeland of Elsira, her gift of Earthsong feared. When ruthless soldiers seek refuge in her isolated cabin, they bring with them a captive — an injured spy who threatens to steal her heart.
Jack's mission behind enemy lines nearly cost him his life but leaves him convinced that the magical barrier between Elsira and the country beyond, controlled by the villainous True Father, is about to fall. Now he must protect Elsira and its people from the True Father's wrath. And he needs Jasminda's Earthsong to do it.
Cool premise, right? It's even better in the execution. Check out Requiem of Silence and its beautiful cover here.

A few more cool & bookish things
Speaking of series I'm thoroughly enjoying, Lisette Marshall's steamy Princess & the Spy trilogy is newly complete and the first book is free — but just through today (Tuesday), so act fast.
She despises his coldness. He loathes her nosy questions. But when a war threatens their small kingdom, they have no choice but to work together.
Viviette, crown princess of the Peaks, is determined to protect her kingdom from looming threats – never mind her father's view of her as a helpless girl. As she manipulates herself into the diplomatic machinations around her, she exasperates the king's spymaster ... and then intrigues him. Far more than he'd care to admit.
Looking for more books? This fantasy romance promo has four I've read (all great fun) and a bunch I've got my eye on, each of them free on Kindle Unlimited. (Oh yeah, and there's one there I wrote. So I guess that's five books I've read.)
Here's something new: Audiobooks you can listen to for free, if you're in the mood to leave a review afterward with your honest thoughts. From a misfit queen of warrior bees to an angel and a demon forced to team up, find those audiobooks here.
You made it to the end! You're awesome. (And oh hey, here are my latest books. In an America run by wizards and 100 years behind on women's rights, she resists. He's the wizard who just hired her.)
