Hello lovely souls! :)
I'm writing this from inside my blanket fort. AKA, I'm covered in a blanket or four, listening to the blustering wind outside while rain pelts against my office window. From the occasional extra crackle against the glass, I suspect a few small pieces of hail have joined the melee. Right on cue, there's a clap of thunder, too.
However, in my writing world, summer has well and truly arrived in Trinket Bay along with the dry, high heat Southern Western Australia experiences at that time of the year. Salt and sea breezes fill the air, although that could just be the aromatic oils burning on the desk beside me. Romance is making a stand, too, as my current work in progress heats up in more ways than one. ;)
Have you ever stepped into a fictional season that's the opposite of what's outside your window?
Along with writing, I've also worked with clients, both new and those I've worked with previously, editing their manuscripts. It's so wonderful to read all these amazing stories and know they are well on their way to publication. Let me tell you, there are some fabulous stories coming to a bookstore near you.
One must have coffee and cake while copyediting, (yes, yes, they must) so the last of the mandarins from my tree became a (very) rustic citrus cake complete with mandarin icing to accompany my mocha-flavoured coffee.
What's your go-to reading / writing / editing snack?
In a few weeks, I'll be visiting Tasmania for the first time. I'll be attending the Romance Writers of Australia's annual conference. I'm looking forward to attending workshops, dressing up for the cocktail party, and most of all, seeing all my writerly people. Catching up with those I normally only chat or speak to online in person is a big deal. If you're heading to the conference too, please come and say hi :) I'll be the one brandishing a folder like it's plastic-coated armour. ;)
After the conference, hubby and I are on holiday. We're going exploring, and fingers crossed, I will finally get to see some snow. Preferably on Cradle Mountain, and not so much on the road. Following on from Tasmania, we're heading to Adelaide for a week to defrost, just a little, explore some more and, in case you hadn't already guessed, I'll be catching up with some writing friends there, too.
All must-see while I'm in Tasmania advice welcomed!
As for my adventures, I can't wait to tell you all about them in my next newsletter. :)
Until next time.
Best wishes,
Danni
