New DET Speaking Question? Here’s What You Need to Know

Hi, Teacher Luke here!

You might have noticed something new pop up on the DET practice test recently... A brand new speaking question 👀

🎥 Watch me answer it here on DET READY VIP: https://vip.detready.com/c/det-news/

Here’s a quick heads-up: This question isn’t part of the official test just yet—but it’s likely coming soon.

From what I can tell, it will probably be called “Interactive Speaking.”

Here’s what I know so far:

You’ll take part in a conversation with a Duolingo character
You’ll be asked 8 questions on 1–2 topics (like communities, stress management, etc.)
You’ll have 35 seconds to answer each question
You’ll need to elaborate on your answers—not just give short replies
You’ll be assessed on: grammar, vocabulary, coherence, fluency & pronunciation

This one’s all about showing your speaking and conversation skills—so don’t hold back.

Then leave a comment and let me know what you think about it!

I’ll be making more lessons and updates on this new question as soon as I learn more.
