DET Setup Mistakes That Ruin Your Test

Hi — Teacher Luke here,

If you're getting ready to take the Duolingo English Test, make sure you set things up properly.

Why? Because if your setup is wrong, your test could be uncertified — and after all your hard work, you definitely don't want that.

The good news is this: the setup is easy.

You just need to follow a few simple rules, and this email will walk you through them.

⭐️ Before we get into the setup, a very quick heads up: My DET Ready VIP program is currently 35% off.

Become the student who takes the DET fully prepared — and passes first time. I’ll share more details about the sale at the end of this email.

1. Choose a quiet, private room

1. Choose a quiet, private room

You can take the DET from home, which is great! Just make sure the room is:

No people walking in, no distractions. All you need with you is a computer, your smartphone, and your ID.

2. Get your computer ready

Before the test, make sure you have:

Close all other apps before you start.

3. Get your phone ready

Your phone is now part of the setup. You'll use it to:

Make sure it's fully charged, on Do Not Disturb, and ideally plugged in so you don't run out of battery mid-test.

4. Keep your desk clear

Keep things simple.

Your desk should only have what you need for the test — your computer and keyboard. Remove notes, books, headphones, tablets, and anything else.

5. Don't move your phone once the test starts

Once your phone is set up as a second camera, don't move it. It needs to stay in place and record for the whole test.

7. Get ready for the test with DET Ready VIP

If you want to feel fully ready for the DET, now is a great time to join my DET Ready VIP program.

My May Sale is on, and you can get 35% off.

That means you can join the program for just $25.99.
