My husband and I absolutely ruined our Valentine’s Day gifts to each other.
We usually don’t do anything fancy except exchange small Valentine’s day gifts. I’d bought him one of those “Create Your Own” collectible mini toys. I thought I had ordered one for Lord of the Rings, but instead I received one based on creating your own mini make-up kit, definitely not his vibe.
On his end of things, he wanted to make me a cake for Valentine’s, but when he took it out of the pan, it fell apart. He ended up icing it anyway, and my daughter dubbed it “the pounded cake” (not to be confused with actual pound cake).
I've eaten pancakes thicker than this.
Fortunately, the pounded cake still tasted amazing. I also fixed my botched Valentine’s Day gift to my husband by buying the collectible I'd originally wanted.
Apparently this gift, like wizards, are never late. They arrive precisely when they mean to.
Valentine’s Day 2026 will go down in our personal history as a laughable disaster, but the good news is we still love each other, even after 18 years together. That’s truly the best gift.
On the writing side of things, I'm churning away on my new trilogy, set in the same world as my previous Magical Midlife books. If you haven't read them, Mom of the Chosen One is currently only 0.99 in the US, UK, Canadian, and Australian Amazon stores.
I've also teamed up with a bunch of fantasy offers to showcase books in Kindle Unlimited. Whether you're looking for something cozy, epic, or romantic, there's something for everyone in the Fantasy Reads for March KU Blast:
How was your Valentine's Day? Read a great book I should check out? Tell me all about it at [email protected].
