We're less than a week into 2021, but I hope it's treating you well. New years generally come with new beginnings, although I have to be honest, I'm not expecting a lot to change for a while. We're still in the middle of a pandemic, my kids' school district is still doing distance learning, and we remained at home for a very quiet holiday season.
But there are some bright spots. My grandmother will turn 100 in a few days! I can't see her right now since she's at very high-risk for COVID, but all of us grandkids are bombarding her with flowers leading up to the big day. My grandfather, who passed away a few years ago, missed his 100th by just a few years, so it's rewarding to see her reach this incredible life benchmark.

I'm also happy to announce the first book of my latest trilogy, available for preorder and releasing on January 27th. Magic Portal is a story I've wanted to tell for a very long time: a young woman gets sucked into an epic fantasy world as the unwanted Chosen One. There's action (mysterious mercenaries and magical knights), humor (a ridiculous gremlin who's terrible at Earth idioms), and just a hint of romance (without being the focus of the story). All three books will be released over the next 4 months, so you won't have to wait long for the conclusion (and the first book does not have a cliffhanger ending, although some plot threads will remain open). The preorder price is $2.99 for my longest book at 95K words.
Avalon's tragic past holds a magical mystery… one that could transport her to another world.
Avalon’s life seems over before it has even begun. At 18 years old, her parents are dead and she’s dropped out of school. She lives in her car, hoping to earn enough money at her carnival job to get off the streets.
But then her lonely existence unravels. A bedraggled beggar begins stalking her every move. A childhood illness flairs up after being dormant for years. And a lifelike fairy statue shows up inside the Hall of Mirrors, unlocking strange abilities that Avalon struggles to control.
As Avalon gets pulled toward a secret world where others covet her legendary powers, she must decide whom to trust—an amnesiac knight, a shapeshifting trickster, or even her former doctor—all of whom may only be exploiting her for their own gain.

Quirks in the Misty Murks is another free wonderland adventure. Jace used to love fishing in the morning. That was until a deer stood up on its back legs and began walking into the mist. Curiosity pushed Jace to investigate the creature, but what will help push him back to life he used to know?
Start the New Year with a BANG! is a review giveaway that runs until January 30th. In exchange for your honest review on platforms like Amazon, you can read books for free. You might see a familiar book in there by yours truly, if you're interested in doing a review. (Note: Unlike other free giveaways, you will only receive the book to review based on the author's discretion. It helps if you have a review profile so the author knows you will leave a review.)
Until next time, happy adventuring!
