The first week of July I took a trip to see family in Idaho, where I was born and raised. In between a water park trip and municipal fireworks, my brother took me to Phoenix Fire Games, a gaming store in Meridian. Imagine my surprise when I met a statue of one of my favorite fantasy characters of all time: Drizzt Do'Urden from R. A. Salvatore's Forgotten Realms novels!
Anyone else have fond memories of this dark elf? He's taller than me (although that's not saying much).
So yes, I took a week off from writing, but I'm back at it now. I'm finishing up the final touches of Magic of Nasci Book #9 and should have a preorder release date in my next newsletter. After that, I plan on writing a trilogy that's set in Melissa's Magical Midlife Mom world, but with a new female main character. Lots of readers are asking for more stories set in that universe, and I think you'll enjoy what I'm noodling on.
In the meantime, if you're still hunkering for some Paranormal Women's Fiction, I've got a new free short story on my blog. I asked my husband for a writing prompt, and he wanted a humorous story about our favorite gargoyle. I hope it does not disappoint.

I also hope you like my new header graphic for the newsletter. I really dig the mysterious woman summoning birds surrounded by the purple/pink fog. I've been using the previous header since I published my debut novel back in 2020. It felt time for a change. Feel free to tell me what you think of it, for better or for worse, at [email protected].
Summer Stories to Beat the Heat
Moon Lake Sleuths is a $0.99 cozy ghost mystery. A hot cop, a jealous ghost, a magical treasure hunt, and a murderer are not the recipe for a single woman craving peace.
Shimmer is a fast-paced action tale with a fairy tale twist. Fae martial artist Alana Beech seeks justice when her teammate dies during a rigged fight. Ronan, a dragon prince, joins Alana’s search for answers.
Mixing Magic & Mayhem is a FREE tale of half shifters. Zulli, with her cat claws and spider fangs, searchs for a magical spatula that's being used to mix illegal drugs.
Until next time, happy adventuring!
