Our family is back after a long weekend in a beach house on the Oregon Coast, and like every other time we've gone, it did not disappoint. We played in the waves on the overcast beach, flew a kite when the wind allowed, and even bought some cute stuffed animals at the local mall (because that's what my kids are into these days).
We also drive through a winding, narrow road deep into the forest to hike Drift Creek Falls. Drift Creek Falls has been on my to-do list for years and has quickly become one of my favorite hikes in Oregon. I can imagine Ina wandering around through the dense groves and lush ferns to a roaring waterfall. Ina would definitely need her earth magic to navigate the sheer cliffs to the bottom of the falls, as my walk across the suspension bridge shows in this video I posted to my Facebook page.
See those huge boulders at the bottom? Those fell during a rock slide in 2010. I can only imagine the ground shake as those puppies broke off!
I love stories that bridge the gap between worlds too, which is why I took a stab at writing a YA portal fantasy trilogy. If you haven't had a chance to read that series, the first book is free on Amazon for a limited time.

More Stories to Bridge Summer Break
The Fly Free: Fantasy and Sci Ebook Giveaway is running through July! With nearly 100 free stories, including two of my Magic of Nasci series, there's something in there for every reader.
A Force of Nature is another take on natural magic in the real world for my Ina fans and costs only $0.99. Nature spirits have ravaged the world with natural disasters for millennia. Only the Spirit Seekers can defend humans against nature's wrath.
The Hidden Princess is the first in a sword and sorcery fantasy series with East Asian themes. Lis has spent her life hidden away from the magic hunters of the Empire, but when the crown prince dies, Lis’s magic is at risk of discovery.
Until next time, happy adventuring!
