I mentioned in the last newsletter that I was reading Leigh Bardugo's Shadow and Bone series in anticipation of the Netflix series. I also managed to fit in the Six of Crows duology before I watched the show, and I'm glad I did. While the Netflix show does not strictly follow the books, it does an amazing job of weaving these two distinctive storylines and characters in a wonderful way. It feels a lot like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where the writers used the original stories as a launching point to a fantastic retelling.
Even if you haven't read the books, I highly recommend the show. My husband watched it with me without prior knowledge and enjoyed it immensely. We're both hoping for a second season.
And if you get hooked in this world, Netflix released a Shadow and Bone website where you can take personality quizzes, create avatars, and check out an interactive map of the Grishaverse. I like my new look below!
For those of you wondering, I'm definitely a squaller like Zoya, although much less abrasive (at least I hope).

Magic Prophecy Will Be Released May 26th!
Magic Prophecy, the final book in the Legends of Llenwald portal fantasy trilogy, is ready for its May 26th debut! Find out Avalon's fate as she deals with the aftermath of what happened in Hamad, the forgotten city.
What sacrifice would you make for a world that does not want you?
It’s a question that haunts Avalon even as she knows that Llenwald is crumbling around her. She has no ties to the Aossi fairy folk. She could choose to go home and forget everything about that strange magical world.
But she can’t. Even if she shouldn’t have legendary powers, even if she didn’t ask for it, she knows she could save a land on the brink of a devastating civil war. Because unlike on Earth, magical prophecies have a way of coming true on Llenwald.
