A week or so ago, I opened up the file of the current novel draft I'm working on and found I'd written exactly 44,444 words. This may not seem creepy to the average English speaker, but in Japan, 4 (written as 四, pronounced "she") is considered a bad number because it also means death (written as 死, also pronounced "she").
So basically, my book had a slot machine's jackpot line worth of death. Is it a curse? I'm hoping nothing happened in that story without my knowledge. Guess I'll find out during the editing process!
