Dear Families and Friends of the Hurley School,
Happy February! We are eagerly anticipating having our kids and teachers back in school together. In a normal year, our preparations for Tropicaliente would be in full swing to create that vibrant celebration of the Hurley School through music, dance, food, drink, fundraising auctions and games. Sadly, Tropicaliente won’t be possible again this year.
However, NPHS has focused on finding new ways to build the community and bring our families together. As you'll see in the schedule below, we have curated an exciting series of events and fundraising opportunities over the course of the next few months.
The Hurley School needs your support more than ever. These virtual events are open to anyone. If you are interested in sponsoring one of our events, please email us at [email protected]. We hope that you and your extended family and friends will join us!
Although we can’t enjoy sampling food from our favorite South End restaurants together, we will learn to cook a delicious meal at home through Two Knives and a Pan. March 4, at 5:30pm
Instead of toasting a cocktail together at Tropi, adults can join us for a “Taste of Boston” Boston Harbor Distillery tasting. March 20, at 7pm
Instead of bidding on our children's beautiful art projects in the silent auction, our children will create their own artwork with Minni. April 9, at 4pm
Instead of celebrating in a beautifully decorated room, create your own floral arrangements to have at home through Two Blooms. April 28, evening event
While we can't celebrate bilingual education in a fun, party setting, let’s come together to discuss How You Say It, a book by Katherine Kinzler that highlights the essence of why our school is so special. May 13, evening event
Instead of dancing the night away, join in the Rumba y Timbal virtual dance performance and lesson. June 7, End of School Year Celebration
Our mission is to bridge the gaps in the funding that the Hurley receives from the Boston Public School System. We are committed to raising funds that will help pay for reading specialists, technology and supplies to help with remote and hybrid learning, among other important initiatives.
Please consider supporting NPHS with a donation. In past years, 80% of our annual budget was covered by Tropicaliente; its loss has greatly impacted our budget. Your donations help to ensure that all students at the Hurley have the resources needed to succeed in the current environment and thrive in their future.
Thank you for your continued support.
Best,
Frances Blair and Avida Michaud
