Soooo, without planning, I took September off from writing.


What started as one busy week turned into an upside down month including my final class at Millennium Park, a wellness workshop at the Strength in the City Fest, and a pretty wonderful experience in Miami as the MC at the Pilates Journal Expo.


I love this picture during one of our business panels about how to stand out in a crowded market because I think I'm making everyone laugh - my favorite!


I was completely in my element on stage, happy to be talking about the current state of Pilates, while in full producer/speaker mode - watching time, making sure the crowd was engaged. Being on stage is my happy place.


But dealing with the drastic change of Miami temperature, the mental and physical workload of being a good host, and a new management plan for an old chronic illness, I found my bandwidth was missing for writing. And this signaled more than just the need for a break. I had become - dun, DUN, DUUUUUUUNNNNNN - out of alignment with my "Bigger Want™️."


I'm being bold with this statement both in the naming of the issue and with the "TM" as this concept is a central part of my work that I think we're all struggling with right now. This universal principle, referred to in behavioral psychology and intentional change theory as the "Ideal Self" or sometimes the "Vision For Wellbeing" is often the compass that keeps someone on track with their joy during struggle, keeping the craving for self-expression and connection high, even when time is stretched thin or the future feels bleak.
