Hey , a big hello from sunny California 💙 📚
I'm currently visiting my Dad in California, and I had the huge pleasure of attending YALLWEST in Los Angeles a couple of weeks back.
YALLWEST is a young adult book festival, so there were lots of authors giving talks, speaking on panels, signing and giving away books. If you love YA books, and you're in the LA area, I highly recommend giving the festival a go, or its sister festival, YALLFEST, on the east coast.
Some highlights include meeting Victoria Aveyard and Adam Silvera — they were both so sweet! I told Adam that my book, The Countdown, has similar vibes to They Both Die at The End, and he got really excited and wrote down the title! 😍
I also met lots of lovely YA readers who really made my day! I loved chatting with everyone about all things YA and books.
Here are some photos:
Me with the I read YA sign, and with Victoria Aveyard! Please excuse the fact that I, as a vampire, can't open my eyes when the sun is out.
Me with Adam Silvera!
And currently, the paperback of They Both Die at the End is over 50% off on Amazon UK!

The Deathday Chronicles update
As you may know, I'm currently deep in edits and rewrites for The Deathday Chronicles, Book 1. Every author's writing process is different, but for me, I always seem to come up with something new, different or fun to add in the later drafts.
Recently, I overhauled a character who's been in the book from the beginning. I gave him some additional quirks, and spent time thinking about his backstory. There's definitely a short story in there somewhere, but it'll have to wait!
Here's an exclusive snippet from the current draft:
“Thorns? Those were no thorns.” He leaped over the remnants of a mid-sized stone wall, which picked back up along the building’s far side. “They were nature-made daggers!”
He's the joker of the gang, and I hope you'll love him as much as I do. I can't wait for you to meet him 😊
