Hey  πŸ“šπŸ’™

Work in Progress β€” Exclusive Snippet from The Deathday Chronicles 1

Have you read any great dystopian or post-apocalyptic novels recently? I'm always on the hunt for a new great read, so I'd LOVE to hear your recommendations!

Reading about the dark and twisted worlds that others have created really inspires me to continue with the world of The Deathday Chronicles.

As a thank you for your patience while I polish the next book and make it the very best it can be, here's an exclusive snippet β€” something I wrote just last week! I've redacted one of the names to prevent spoilers 😊

[His] expression hardens. β€œYou would do well to remember that words have power. Words lead to questions, and by now you know the G.A.’s stance on those.”

Words have power.

And there I am again: a little girl, barely eight years old. I’m balanced on Dad’s lap in the woods as he talks to me, stroking my long chestnut brown hair. A million crinkles form around his warm brown eyes as they twinkle with kindness and understanding. His skin glows in the soft scattered light of the summer sun shining through the trees, and his voice is deep and soothing, like the hum of a well-oiled machine.

He tells me that words are powerful things, that they can catch like embers in the wind. At the time, I don’t quite grasp the full meaning of his message, but there’s something in the way he says it that makes me feel like it’s important. It’s like a secret code that only he and I understand, a bond between father and daughter that transcends both space and time.

Now years later, his words rush back. They’re etched into my memory and they’ll stay there till the very end. And as I gaze up into [his] cold, almost lifeless face, and as I navigate through his world β€” filled with lies and deceit β€” I realize just how right Dad was.

Words are dangerous weapons, capable of starting fires that can never be put out.

So I choose my next words carefully, like an engineer at the White Tower Elite Academy meticulously testing and choosing the appropriate programming for their latest tech creation.

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts, and if you're looking forward to reading the next book in The Deathday Chronicles series as much as I'm looking forward to sharing it with you!
