Friends!
As predicted, May flew by in a whirl of spring concerts, family birthdays, and end of the school year celebrations. I'm kind of in denial that my oldest will be heading off to high school in the fall and my second is transitioning to middle school - where has the time gone?? But I'm so proud of the young men they're becoming, and I'm grateful our younger daughters get to stay in grade school for years to come :)
On the writing side, I'm happy to report I had a productive month despite being so busy. Book 3 in my Tales of the Mystics series is already through all its edits! It was so exciting (and at times a bit challenging!) to really dig back into this story to make the plot stronger, the pacing more impactful, and all the little details come together for a polished finished product. This book has been so many years in the making and has such deep character growth combined with all the swoony moments - I can't wait for you to read it! Soon we'll move on to formatting and setting a publication schedule, so stay tuned!
In the midst of editing, I've also made some progress on Of Pine and Pretense! This early writing stage is always the hardest for me as I struggle to understand the characters and figure out the main plot points, and I'm finally getting there! But I definitely need to pick up the pace if I'm going to get this book finished in time. Here's hoping I can have the discipline over the summer to wake up early to sneak in a few writing hours each morning before the kids get up!
What do you have planned over the summer? In addition to lots of writing and fun outings with the kids, I'm looking forward to several trips to see my family and hopefully a few adventures in our new pop-up camper. See you next month!
Book Spotlights
New audiobook alert! I've been meaning to read Redeeming the Dragon by Sarah Ashwood for months, so I was thrilled to hear that now it's available in audio! A clean East of the Sun, West of the Moon retelling involving dragons? Yes, please! This one also has Whispersync, which means if you buy the ebook you can snag the audio at a huge discount :)
I read The Wolf Gate by Hanna Sandvig as a novella last year and loved it - a romantic Little Red Riding Hood retelling with portals into faerie. And now, she's about to release a full-length novel version with so many new scenes! If you love fairy tales and cozy fantasy mixed in with modern teenage romantic drama, this series is absolutely for you :)
Have you checked out the Clean Fantasy with Found Family promo yet? So many amazing books featuring one of my favorite tropes, and it only stays open though the end of the month!
