Happy October, friends!
After a warm start to fall, we've had frost overnight a few times in the past week and the leaves are looking stunning. I absolutely love this time of year, but it's always over too quickly! (At least here in Minnesota, where it's not that unusual to have snow flurries on Halloween...) Do you have any fun Halloween plans? Cool costume ideas? I'll be taking my two younger kiddos trick-or-treating, while my older two are getting to the point where they'd rather hang out with friends than mom and dad :) But family pumpkin carving is on the schedule for this evening!
In writing news, it's been a very productive month! I'm so excited to share that I finished Book Three of my Tales of the Mystics series (a sequel / companion novel to Common and Traitor) as planned and will be sending it off to my publisher later this week. I'm sure my editors will have plenty of suggestions for improvements, but I'm already so happy with how it turned out! This story is brimming with character growth and has SO MANY moments with underlying romantic tension. I have no idea what the timeline will look like going forward, but after working on this project on and off for over five years, it feels amazing to have reached this milestone!
What's next for me? A series of shorter projects, the first of which will be specifically for you newsletter subscribers! We'll see if I can get it finalized before my November newsletter! Then my 2026 will involve a number of novella / short story releases, so I need to keep writing! And the audiobook for A Noble Purpose should be completed soon - I'm so eager to hear it! I'll make sure to send an update next month once I have more details.
Speaking of audiobooks, have you listened to The Dancer and the Dragon Speaker yet? Didn't the narrator do a fabulous job?? I'm absolutely floored that it has almost 2,000 listens on YouTube already! I'm planning to make TDATDS available on other sites over the next few months - I'll make sure to let you know :) And if you're looking for more audiobooks, remember that Romantasy Vault has a new release each week!
Or if paperbacks are your preference, then you absolutely need to check out this incredible giveaway on Instagram! Four different winners will each receive a book bundle of six paperbacks each, and all the books are swoony, no spice fantasy! Just look at all those gorgeous covers!! For more details and to enter, click through to this IG post. The giveaway ends tonight, so don't wait (which is why I'm sending this on a Sunday instead of waiting until a weekday)!
That's it for this month! I'm so grateful for each one of you! Enjoy the beautiful leaves, everything pumpkin spice, spooky Halloween movies, or whatever it is you love about this time of year :)
Book Spotlights
Pamela Hart is one of the authors I'm most excited to try next! Her covers are just stunning, and her books sound like a combination of the romance of fairy tale retellings with the danger and action of The Hunger Games. Just my kind of story! Beauty from Embers, Book Two in her Beauty from Ashes series, just released earlier this month!
Does anyone else love a gorgeous box set? There's something so satisfying about seeing all the covers together, plus then you get to read all the books at once! Megan Lynn Rose just released a box set for her Broken Kingdom series last month, and it looks amazing!
She’s sworn off love.
But fate has other plans.
In a kingdom full of lies, her heart will be torn in two.
Curses, a political betrothal, prophecies, a mysterious fae warrior - sounds like the makings of such an intriguing story! And you know I'm always a sucker for stunning covers :) Rune of Secrets is the first book in Kelly N. Jane's Enchanted Shadows series!
Rune of Secrets is a story of agency hard-won, loyalty tested, and identity reclaimed, where love is earned through shared struggle, ancient magic sleeps beneath the earth, and prophecy walks beside those brave enough to claim it.
I know I've shared about E.J. Kitchens in this newsletter before (she's one of my favorite authors, plus an amazing writing friend!), but I recently realized that I've never gushed about her Of Magic Made series! Book One, Wrought of Silver and Ravens, starts off as a 12 Dancing Princesses retelling, but turns into so much more. Found family, slow burn romance, adventure, the coolest magic system...you guys seriously need to read it! Especially now that the series is complete! At least the main series, I'm still hoping for more stories involving side characters :)
