G'day ,
Often when I travel, I buy souvenirs, and I think fridge (1) magnets make good gifts. They are small, quite light when packed in your suitcase, and they don't cost too much.
I bought a fridge magnet for Mum on a number of my trips. Usually they were brightly coloured ones. She stuck them on her fridge, and the grandchildren played with them. My auntie also ended up with a couple, and her grandchildren asked questions about them.
As I bought other things like t-shirts and hand-crafted items (2) for myself, I didn't have too many fridge magnets on my fridge. And I only brought two of the special ones to Germany when I moved.
A few years ago, my friend asked me to water the plants while her family went on their summer holiday. To say 'thank you', she bought me a fridge magnet. It was very colourful and bigger than many of the magnets I had bought. I thanked her very much, went home, and stuck it on my fridge.
Everything was great until I moved to my new flat. I can't stick magnets on the fridge, because the outside of the door is made of wood! That's so disappointing. However, I have something metal, and I can stick the magnet from my friend and the few others I have on that.
The problem was that the magnet my friend gave me was big and heavy. Several times, I accidentally hit it, and it almost fell to the ground.
Then, a couple of weeks ago, I knocked it off, and it fell to the ground and broke. I was really disappointed. (I haven't told my friend yet 🫣.)
At the weekend, I opened a little box that I hadn't looked in for quite a while. Inside were two fridge magnets that I had completely forgotten about. One I bought for myself years ago and one a friend gave to me. So now they are out where I can see them, replacing the one I broke.
How about you, ? Do you buy souvenirs when you travel? Do you have any fridge magnets on your fridge and if so, did you buy them?
Have a fantastic week,
Andrea
