Just trying to get my tap fixed

Hi ,

I need the tap in my kitchen fixed. It drips πŸ’§, so I turn it off really hard. That's bad for it, I know. So I organised a plumber (1) to come and fix it.

I phoned him and made the appointment. He was quite unfriendly, but maybe I had interrupted him in the middle of something difficult.

The day of the appointment arrived. I was home well before the time we had arranged.

I waited. The time of the appointment got closer. Well, he definitely wasn't early. But maybe something had held him up.

I waited even longer. Now he was late.

Because I was at home, I did some jobs around the house. Then I had to leave for my next class. No plumber πŸ˜‘.

A few days later, I called again. I said my name and address. Ohh ... that street? He had gone to another street. We made another appointment. This time he was so much nicer!

But it was a repeat of the first time. I got home before the time we had arranged. I waited and waited however, once again, he didn't show up!

I also made an appointment with removalists (2). That was almost a month ago. Well, last Friday was moving day.

A few days before, I started feeling uncomfortable. The gut feeling I talked about a couple of weeks ago.

Had they forgotten about my booking?

I left it really late, but on Thursday I finally gave in to my feeling and wrote an email saying that I was just double-checking in case something was wrong.

The reply said everything was fine.

Then early on Friday morning (OK, not so early - just after 7:00) my phone rang. One of the workers was sick - could we reschedule for Saturday?

πŸ™„

It wasn't a problem really. I had a day without time pressure, so I took another load of work books to the new flat and did another cleaning job.

And on Saturday the guys turned up just like they said they would 😊.

What do you do when people don't meet you when they say they will? Do you get angry? Tell me what you think about broken appointments (or what I should do about the plumber).

Have a wonderful week,

Andrea
