{{contact.first_name}}, is it time to change your routine?

Hi ,

Just before Easter I made a decision - I needed to get away and see something new.

Unfortunately, I settle into routines (habits!) very easily. Routines may be something as simple as sitting in the same seat in the same restaurant on the same day every week. Maybe for you it was choosing the same desk in a classroom every time you had English (or biology or maths).

We all do it (I think). Human beings are creatures of habit. And let me say, routines can be good! I do house work because I have developed routines. Exercise too. I even manage to start things again the next time if I miss one session (most of the time 😉).

But it is a weakness of mine to repeat something so many times that it becomes a set pattern that can be hard to break out of. My whole weekends have become a routine, the same activities, the same procedure, every Saturday and every Sunday.

That brings me to the days before Easter. I needed a change! Hopefully travelling to a different place would push me out of my routine and force me to make new, interesting choices.

So I did it! I visited a city I haven't been to before. That meant different places to walk and interesting new things to see. It also meant a complete change when it came to food - there was no regular restaurant (or table!) to eat at!

Breaking out of my routine was really good (I should do it more often). But even being 'back to normal' this weekend will feel fresh, because of the change last weekend - they say that a change is as good as a holiday.

How about you, ? Are your routines set in stone (like mine often are) or are you super flexible? If you are a person with fixed routines, do you also need to sometimes take a break from the regular and do something different for a change?

Let me know your thoughts and what a 'change' will look like for you (if you need to make one...).

Good bye for today,

Andrea
