Welcome back ,
Last weekend I went to a flea market.
That was unusual for me.
Don't get me wrong - I really enjoy walking around markets in general. I like looking at all the different stalls and deciding if there's something I should buy.
However, I don't find flea markets so exciting. Yes, you can find things that are perfect - exactly what you've been looking for at a bargain price. But I think there's also a lot of junk there. Although, as the saying goes, one man's trash (1) is another man's treasure.
I know some people love flea markets. One person I know goes every week and usually finds something to buy. And I'm sure she finds amazing things. Maybe that's the secret - if you go to a flea market regularly, you can easily spot the things that are worth (2) buying.
The atmosphere at markets is great. If it's a market that's held regularly, the stall holders get to know each other and chat when they're not busy with customers. Or they chat with customers, especially regular ones And some stall holders shout to attract attention (3) to their stall and the goods they have.
The flea market I went to last weekend was in my town. It was a short walk from my flat and the day was warm and sunny day. Perfect 😀.
There were several things for my flat that I looked at. And I would have happily bought, if there had been something that really caught my eye (4) - the prices were fine. But in the end I didn't.
Well, I didn't buy anything for my flat....
As I was walking around, I saw one stall with some bags of wool. Being the wool addict that I am, I had a closer look...
And I found something. Some yarn that I can knit up for next summer. I don't need any wool - I have plenty to keep me busy for the next few months (umm... a couple of years 🫣), but at that price, I couldn't say 'No'.
Do you like going to flea markets, ? Do you buy things, or just look? I'm interested to hear your opinion, especially after I wrote about all the 'stuff' I already have in my place.
Wishing you a wonderful, relaxing 3rd of October,
Andrea
(1) trash - rubbish, garbage
(2) worth - there is value in it
(3) attract attention - make it so people easily see/notice you
(4) caught my eye - really impressed me
