Your audience is your business. Not your product, not your website—your people. A small, engaged audience is more powerful than a large, indifferent one. But building it takes consistency, relevance, value provision, trust, and authenticity.

Focus on delivering value over time: share ideas, answer questions, and teach what you know. Go beyond merely sharing content—spark a dialogue. Broaden and deepen your communication channels with each member of your audience, individually (if possible)!

When I shifted my focus from growing my list to helping people with their work challenges, the list grew naturally. Focus on service first, metrics second.

• Pick one platform to dominate first.

• Be human, not a brand.
• Give more than you ask.
