No, this is not the year of Zardoz

Science fiction and fantasy - from Middle America to the ends of the Universe

Hi ,

Apparently, there's talk going around that the '70s sci-fi film Zardoz was set in 2023. Whoever is pushing that line is wrong. I'm one of the few people to ever see Zardoz, on my local independent TV station in the mid-'80s (KSPR in Springfield, MO). Yes, it's a bad as you've been told. But it plainly takes place in the year 2293. The opening title card says so. If you don't believe me, will you at least trust imdb.com?

Now that we're clear that 2023 is not the year of Zardoz, the question is, what will this be the year of? Hopefully good things for each and every one of you. After the pandemic and inflation, we're all due for something better.

For me, that means more writing and publishing. I have two stories in the pipeline at Analog magazine. I'll be trying some new marketing strategies this year, from Kickstarter to my own online bookstore. Refreshing covers and book descriptions. All while making progress on my current project, a space opera trilogy, and making plans for writing projects for the rest of the decade and beyond.

As part of the process, I recently revamped my website, including redirecting the once separate website for my publishing company (CV-2 Books) to my personal site. If you have a few minutes, take a look at raymundeich.com and let me know what you think.

Till next time,

Happy reading!

Raymund
