What's the matter with natter?

Everthing. 😕

Hi, .

Are you familiar with the word natter?

Among other things, it means to find fault and be ill-tempered.

We all find ourselves nattering from time to time.

And, there are some of us who natter most of the time.

Your spouse may have told you that it's annoying, repelling, and makes him/her not want to be around you.

We tend to miss and/or ignore what our spouse is telling us, but hear it clearly when someone else says the same thing.

So, hear this: when you natter, it's annoying, repels your spouse, and makes him/her not want to be around you.

True story:

One of my friends told me he'd come home from work, see his wife's car in the driveway, and keep circling the house until she left.

He didn't want to put up with her nattering, i.e., her fault finding and ill temper.

Men, before you think it's just women who natter, please understand that nattering is a human thing, not a female thing.

For instance, there's a guy who used to live in my old neighborhood who was nice to everyone except for his wife. He'd find fault with her, and be ill-tempered towards her. Partly due to his nattering, their marriage didn't last.

Please understand: I'm not saying you can't discuss issues.

Definitely do that.

But, if every little thing makes you natter, something's definitely the matter.

Pay attention to how often you're finding fault with your spouse, and keep a watch on your temper.

The goal is to attract your spouse, not drive him/her away.
