Today Cetelia and I celebrate 24 years of marriage. We went to the Grand Canyon over the weekend, and had a good time - until we landed in Dallas.
While taxiing to the gate, we got into it. Here's the crazy thing: I don't even remember how it started. I can only remember me getting offended over comments she said I made, and me trying to keep it down so the passengers around us didn't hear us going at it (I'm not sure we were successful).
While I wanted to stay mad and make a point of being mad, I instead apologized. I still didn't agree with what she said, but it didn't matter. I looked to see how she might have a point, and I apologized. She later apologized to me for what she said not coming out clearly. We got through it, and we're having a good day today.
Fights, arguments, and disagreements happen. You can't prevent all of them. It's normal.
What really matters, then, is how you handle them when they do happen.
