One day while doing marriage coaching, a wife said, "I'm not that good yet."

She was speaking about doing the things her husband requested of her.

I love her response.

Saying, "I'm not that good yet" isn't a cop-out, unless you have no intention of trying to become a better spouse.

Rather, it shows that you're trying, but haven't arrived. It shows that you have a goal, but haven't achieved it. It shows that you're sensitive to who your mate needs you to be, and you're working to honor that request.

When it comes to becoming a better spouse, you've got a couple of things you can say:

"I'm not that good yet" or "I'm not trying to get that good."

Which will you choose?

Kevin

ps - my family and I are moving over the next few days. I'm going to have some guest writers, and I look forward to hearing your feedback on what they share.
