House Fail

image

Hi ,

Things are progressing forward, although we did back out of the house sale. The house had too many things wrong with it for it to be a good investment, so we decided to rent for the time being. Thankfully we were able to find a place to rent for October. The rent isn’t as cheap as other places in Saskatchewan, but it’s in a good area and has underground parking, which is a definite must for the Saskatchewan winters, especially our first winter. I’ve never lived in a place that gets as cold as they do; however, I am used to the wet cold. The one that freezes your bones. We had a bit of experience by deciding to visit Grand Prairie and Edmonton in the winter, as we wanted to see what the area was like at it’s worst, so I’m assuming Saskatchewan is much the same, except flatter and thus more wind which can likewise make the cold air cut to the bone.

Despite the harsher winter, I am actually looking forward to the move, except for the sadness of being further away from my kids and my mom; but, for those of us trying to plan for retirement, we need to go where we can afford to live. And Vancouver, BC, just isn’t sustainable if you want to save for retirement and still have a life. Since we backed out of the house sale, we decided to try finding a place in the Spring after the worst of the winter has past. This way we can already be out there and it will be easier to find a place as we can actually go look at places in person, or if we see an amazing offer over the winter, we could even jump on the opportunity.

I’m hoping also that once life settles a little, I’ll be able to release my next book. I haven’t been able to focus much due to everything going on and my brain just hasn’t been in the writing or editing mood. But even though I haven’t been writing, I would like to share someone else’s book. Scroll to the bottom to check it out.

xo,

Patricia Elliott
