I quit YouTube (views increased 25%)

Sounds backwards, right? Here's the screenshot that proves it works...

I haven't posted on YouTube in two months.

Yet my views are up 25%.

Watch time is up 116%.

And subscribers are up 63%.

Here's a screenshot of my last 90 days...

And tbh...

I'm not even surprised.

Because I've seen this happen time and time again.

Videos blowing up 50, 70, 130 days after they were posted.

YouTube is kind of a unicorn among social media platforms.

This screenshot is from my script writing video.

It's taking off 130+ days after I initially posted it.

This is how it goes for YouTube channels.

80% of their views come from one video.

And it really tells you a lot.

For one, it means my audience really wants to learn about YouTube script writing - because they know the script is what keeps people engaged.

Second, I know that the title/thumbnail framework I used gets clicks. I need to use similar titles moving forward, and also take thumbnail specific images if I want clicks.

And third, I hired an editor for this video. I'm not going to hire one for all my videos, but it's good to know the money is worth it.

Now, I didn't quit posting on YouTube forever.

I'm just taking a little break to get my ducks in a row, but it's nice to get small wins like this. Like 1.7k views isn't much, but for a business channel, it's nothing to scoff at.

The important thing is that when you get a win like this, don't say "that's cool" and do nothing about it.

Study it.

Replicate it.

But how do you get a YouTube video to "live forever?"

Well there are a few things:

  1. The thumbnail must get the viewer's attention. Use color, leading lines, and numbers to draw peoples' eyes to your videos. Our brains register imagery before words, so the thumbnail matters most.
  2. There are ton of title styles to use, but I've found "I've done XYZ" does best (at least for me). These titles come pre-loaded with proof and imply you'll teach them HOW to do it.
  3. Promise you'll show them how IT'S done. If you start the video rambling about your life without any direction, they'll log off.
  4. Be clear and concise: deliver the path to the desired outcome by using easy-to-follow frameworks.
  5. Make a video you'd watch yourself. If you don't think your own video is interesting, others won't think it is either.

Do all that, and you'll craft a video that "lives forever" on YouTube.

One that attracts buyers to your brand without you needing to lift a finger.

So you don't have to chase down all your prospects or spend thousands every week on ads so people will look at your landing page.

But there's one thing I didn't mention.

The most crucial part of any YouTube video is "The Big Idea."

It's what really gets people to click on your videos. Because while a pretty thumbnail is nice, without a Big Idea, your thumbnail won't communicate the right message...

...Then your title will misdirect your audience and everything will fall apart from there.

Getting the "Big Idea" right comes with years of practice. I've had to get in the field and do the dirty work - post hundreds of videos for my clients and myself while coming up short countless times.

But now, after making hundreds of thousands in backend YouTube revenue for my clients, I'm opening up the doors to 1-on-1 coaching.

I'm taking on three students this quarter who want to build a Video Sales Funnel that attracts buyers in their sleep.

I can share more details if you're interested.

Just reply "Funnel" to this email and we can chat about it.

Talk next week,

Ryan
