Roles:

SUZANNE - Late 40s to Mid-50s. White. The school board moderator trying to maintain consensus and empathy. She is warm, and gracious; a wealthy life coach and the school's unofficial leader. She is the, often passive-aggressive, anti-vax voice who justifies her stance with personal, emotionally charged stories.

CARINA - 30s-40s. Black. A newer board member often navigating being the voice of reason. She is pragmatic and willing to challenge the group's ineffective, polite consensus-building. She often finds herself at loggerheads with Suzanne.

DON - 40’s-50s. White. The well-meaning, overwhelmed principal trying to facilitate the board meetings. He is caught between the parents' conflicting views and faces mounting stress as the debate escalates.

ELI - 30s-40s. White. A privileged, well-meaning tech investor and stay-at-home dad who often seems oblivious, searching for purpose while having to navigate the, largely self-imposed, conflicts. He is in a “complicated open relationship” with his wife and is involved in a relationship with Meiko/May.

MEIKO/MAY - 30s-40s. Asian. A single mother (by choice) and landscape architect. She expresses skepticism regarding modern medicine. She eventually speaks up, highlighting the immense hubris of the board's situation.
