The Last 100+ Days

Update from Heydingers in Poland

Dear ,

So much has happened in the last one hundred or so days here in Poland! We have seen God work through situations that we never imagined. We want to share with you so that you can rejoice with us and pray for the things that we have coming up.

First of all, back on December 30th, one of the pipes in our Dining Room burst and flooded several rooms.

It took two months, but we finally were able to get everything cleaned up so that we can use the building again. In the meantime, we still had out Winter English4Life term. We had nine students from Poland, Ukraine and France.

We saw God work in the lives of these students and it was encouraging to see them grow closer to the Lord while they were here. This was the first time we had a student from outside of Poland and Ukraine, so it was fun to have different cultures together.

During the second to last week of our Winter term, on February 24, the war in Ukraine began. The next day we planned an overnight evangelistic event for youth in Poland. We had over 100 people involved and a few boys responded to the salvation message.

The following Monday, we received our first displaced Ukrainians fleeing from the war. We still have a few people staying with us, but when it was at the peak we had 130+ people staying with us each night.

Thank you for your prayers during this time! We have hosted people for over 9,000 nights of stay since the war began. Some people stay just a night or two while others have stayed several weeks or months.

What we have seen during this time is that the first thing we needed to do was meet the physical needs of these people. They needed a safe place to sleep, food to eat, and internet to connect with their loved ones. After they had these things for a little while they were more open to hear about God.

Dina had the opportunity to share the Gospel with several people. We had two sisters stay here and work for a month and on the day the left to go back to Ukraine Dina shared with them and they both prayed for salvation!

During this time, we also had our Spring term of English4Life. This was the biggest term to date, with 18 students finishing the whole term. Thank you to everyone for praying for this time and especially for those who helped sponsor Ukrainians to study with us. We had 3 students from Poland, 1 from Belarus, and 14 from Ukraine.

We hope that this gives you a taste of what has happened here in Poland the last 100+ days. We could write so much more, but if you want to know more you can ask us :)

So what happens next? We are planning a full summer of camps starting on July 2. We will have camps until August 13. Please pray that God will work in an amazing way this summer.

One more thing that we haven't announced in our prayer letter yet...our family is growing! We are expecting a baby girl in the next 2-3 weeks. Please pray for Dina and Baby these next weeks and for all of us as we adjust to being a family of 5!

Thank you for standing with us as we serve in Poland! Over the past few months we have seen that we truly cannot do this alone! We need people like you to join with us in our ministry. Thank you for reading to the end! If there is any way we can be praying for you, please let us know.
