Dear
The Government has again extended the ban on eviction for commercial & residential landlords.
Please note the extension does not bar residential landlords from serving eviction notices like section 8, section 21 or landlords issuing possession claims.
The ban only affects the last leg of the eviction process.
We strongly recommend that all members ensure if they are issuing a possession claim, to plead "permission to use high court enforcement".
County court bailiffs were struggling with their workload even before COVID-19, and when the ban is lifted, it would not be surprising for Court bailiffs to take at least 6 months to evict a tenant.
By requesting permission to use a high court, enforcement means you will not need to wait 6 months. A high court enforcement officer can carry out the eviction within 7 days of instruction.
