If you’re thinking of going into business for yourself, you have several choices. Maybe you've even thought about them.
“Should I turn an idea I have into a business?”
“I could start ‘consulting”
“Lots of businesses are for sale. I could find one to buy.”
“I could find a business that has an owner who’s almost ready to retire...learn the business and buy him out.“
“I could look into buying a franchise.”
You can pursue any or all of those things.
But let’s focus on your “franchise” idea.
You may not be cut out for franchise business ownership.
The thing is, it has nothing to do with how smart you are, how successful you’ve been, or how good your management skills are. Instead, it has to do with how you’re wired.
If you’re wired correctly, in this case-wired for successful franchise ownership, you should spend some time learning about franchising and look into a few franchise opportunities.
If you’re not wired for franchising, you can be angry about it (or at me) if you want, but at least you (hopefully) won’t go into something you would probably lose money on.
