In this powerful message, Pastor Jared reminds us that our stories—no matter how messy—are vehicles of hope in a world desperate for light. We’re called not to perfection, but to surrender. By simplifying and sharing our testimonies, we invite others into the redemptive work of Jesus. This week, become a storyteller of God’s grace.

Weekly Bible Study List

  1. 1 Peter 3:15-16 (NLT) – “...if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way.”
  2. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NLT) – “He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.”
  3. Acts 1:8 (NLT) – “You will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere...”
  4. Revelation 12:11 (NLT) – “They have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony...”
  5. Romans 1:16 (NLT) – “For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work...”

The Sunday Outline & Notes

In Part 3 of the Shine series, Pastor Jared dives into a compelling call for believers to become storytellers of God’s goodness. Too often, Christians get stuck in the overwhelming pressure of “sharing their faith” because they think it requires flawless theology or perfect responses. But Jared reminds us: it doesn’t start with knowledge—it starts with surrender.

Point #1: Surrender Your Story

Before your story can change someone else, it must be surrendered to God. Jared shares a deeply personal moment—losing his father to suicide—and how he believed that part of his life was too broken to be used. But through surrender, God didn’t just redeem the story—He recycled it into something that could bring hope to others.

Point #2: Simplify Your Story

We complicate the process. But as 1 Peter 3:15 shows, all God asks for is a reason for our hope—not a dissertation.

Jared introduces a simple 3-part structure to craft a testimony:

Using his own testimony, he demonstrates the power of simplicity and authenticity in storytelling.

Point #3: Share Your Story

Jared gives a moving analogy about his wife’s diabetic episode, showing how his lived experience helped save her when medical knowledge fell short. It’s a powerful reminder that your experience, your story, matters. As 2 Corinthians 1:3–4 teaches, God comforts us so we can comfort others.

From Sermon to Action

3 Practical Steps for Sharing Your Faith

  1. Write Your Story – Using the 3-part framework.
  2. Pray for Opportunities – “God, give me eyes to see, courage to step, and words to speak.”
  3. Take the Work/School Challenge – Look for opportunities to share your story in real conversations.

This message encourages every believer to see their life as a platform for the Gospel—showing that sometimes the most powerful sermon someone will hear is the story you’re brave enough to tell.
