Here is a recap of our message from this weekend...

Parables: Big Things Start Small

image

Pastor Adam encouraged us with a timely Pentecost message centered around the Parable of the Mustard Seed. He reminded us that big things often start small, and when we surrender even our smallest efforts to God, He grows them into something that blesses others. Our lives aren’t just for personal growth — they’re meant to provide shelter, strength, and purpose to those around us.

Weekly Bible Study List

  1. Matthew 13:31-32 – “Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree...”
  2. Matthew 13:10-13 – “Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.”
  3. Zechariah 4:10 – “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.”
  4. Galatians 6:9 – “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest...”
  5. Genesis 12:2 – “I will bless you... and you will be a blessing to others.”

The Sunday Outline & Notes

Pastor Adam opened the service celebrating graduates and reflected emotionally on their growth over time. This tied into the theme of the message: small beginnings that grow into something impactful. Pentecost Sunday served as a perfect backdrop to talk about growth, transformation, and the work of the Holy Spirit.

Why Parables?

Reading from Matthew 13:31-32, Pastor Adam taught that the Kingdom of God is like a mustard seed — starting small but growing into something mighty. Just like David was overlooked by men but chosen by God, or how Jesus came as a baby instead of a warrior, God delights in beginning with what seems insignificant.

3 Takeaways from the Parable of the Mustard Seed

From Sermon to Action

The message concluded with a call to recognize the seed God has planted in us. Whether it's starting a Bible plan, inviting a friend to church, or simply praying aloud for the first time — every step counts. Jesus wasn’t just a storyteller of seeds — He was the seed that died and rose to bring growth in each of us. Now, it’s our turn to grow and provide life to others.
