Finishers: Becoming Unstoppable

image

Daniel Solis gave this week's sermon that challenges believers to become unstoppable by being secure in their faith, consistent in their character, and surrounded by godly relationships. Drawing from 2 Peter and Daniel, the message reminds us that true transformation comes when we anchor our lives in God's Word, live unoffended, and grow daily in grace and knowledge of Christ.

Weekly Bible Study List

  1. 2 Peter 3:14–18 – The foundation of the message on being blameless, guarded, and growing in grace.
  2. Daniel 6:10 – Daniel’s consistent prayer life even under pressure.
  3. Titus 2:11–12 – Grace teaches us to say no to ungodliness and live righteously.
  4. Romans 12:2 – (Referenced in tone) Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
  5. Proverbs 27:17 – “As iron sharpens iron...” (Implied when talking about godly people around you.)

The Sunday Outline & Notes

The sermon opens with a playful and powerful analogy about how we’ve normalized spiritual “junk food.” Just as unhealthy eating has become normalized, many Christians have accepted spiritually unhealthy behaviors as the standard. The message flips this idea on its head: living by the conviction of the Holy Spirit is the real normal.

A central theme is this: an unstoppable church can’t be filled with people who carry around unconquered sin or live with spiritual apathy. The health and strength of the church begins with individuals choosing to live surrendered and secure in Christ.

How to Become Unstoppable

1. Be Secure in Your Foundation

In 2 Peter 3:17, we’re reminded to be on guard so we don’t fall from our secure position. “To be carried away” doesn’t mean being forcibly taken—it means willingly walking away from truth. The sermon makes clear: sin doesn’t kidnap us, we often walk hand-in-hand with it. But if we are confident in what we're secured to—the Word, prayer, and the Holy Spirit—we can stand firm.

2. Be Consistent in Your Character

Daniel’s unwavering commitment to prayer—even when it could cost him his life—is lifted up as a model of spiritual consistency. Character shouldn't shift depending on the day or the challenge. True maturity is seen when we're the same person before, during, and after hardship.

3. Offense is a Barrier to Purpose

Drawing from Peter’s acknowledgment of Paul as a “beloved brother,” the message highlights the power of laying down offense for the sake of God’s mission. Offense becomes toxic when it’s hidden; it grows like mold and eventually spills out onto others. The encouragement? Let grace uproot bitterness before it takes root.

4. Grow in Grace and Knowledge

Grace isn’t a free pass to keep sinning—it’s the power to change. The call is to grow in grace by deepening our relationship with Christ (epignosis), not just knowing about Him (gnosis). True transformation happens not just through learning, but through intimacy with God.

6. Surround Yourself with the Right People

Unstoppable believers are intentional about community. We need people who see our blind spots, who act as neutralizers when emotions escalate, and who sharpen us with truth. Whether in marriage, friendship, or leadership, the people around you will either pull you closer to God's purpose—or push you away from it.

From Sermon to Action

The sermon ends with a beautiful altar call, reminding believers that while salvation is a free gift, it should lead to visible change in every area of life—relationships, attitudes, parenting, and spiritual discipline. Grace is what empowers us to live as God intended.
