Here is a recap of our message from this weekend...
Palm Sunday: Hailed as a King. Killed as a Criminal. The Difference One Week Can Make.
This week was the grand finale of our series Influencers and we looked at the significance of Palm Sunday and moved into the concluding discussion of the "Influencers" series, focusing on discipleship as a relational and imitational journey with Jesus. Our message was centered around the Great Commission and it's call for us to begin multiplying ourselves as followers of Jesus. It reflected on the transformation and responsibilities of being a disciple, emphasizing sharing Jesus' transformative power with the world. One week can change everything, especially when we place our sights on ourselves instead of Jesus.
The Great Commission
The core of the message centered around Matthew 28:18-20, where Jesus issues The Great Commission, charging His followers to make disciples of all nations. It breaks down into three critical areas of multiplication: following Jesus, spreading hope, and expanding the church's reach. Each point is explored with biblical insights and practical applications for living out these teachings in everyday life.
Weekly Bible Study List
- Matthew 5:15 - "Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house."
- Romans 1:16 - "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes..."
- Matthew 28:18-20 - "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.."
- John 16:33 - "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
3 Areas We Must Multiply as Followers of Jesus:
- Multiply Your Following: Being a disciple means you're on team Jesus, full-time. Your goal? Live in a way that pulls people into His squad. It's not just church on Sundays; it’s about sharing your faith heart-to-heart, life-to-life. Get out there, share those Jesus vibes, and watch your circle grow!
- Multiply Your Hope: Life throws curveballs, we get it. But hear this – Jesus is the ultimate game-changer. He said it Himself in John 16:33, we’re gonna have some trouble, but He’s overcome anything we can face. Take that hope found in Jesus, bottle it up, and share that same hope outside the church walls. Be real, be you, and start lighting up lives with hope until they can experience Jesus for themselves.
- Multiply Your Church: Here's the closer – we're not just looking to fill the seats. We're looking to invite people into a place where they can learn what it means to walk in truth and turn heads towards Jesus. The church? It's our boot camp for believers. We're focusing on building a church that changes the community. The only way we will get there is by introducing people to Jesus and then inviting them to a place where they can continue to grow and contribute to God's church.
In light of Palm Sunday, we draw inspiration from Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem, a stark symbol of His humility and sacrifice. This moment isn't just a memory, it's a call-to-action to welcome more people into a relationship with Jesus. With Easter next week, we're handed a prime chance to step up, reach out, and amplify our efforts in making disciples. Let's seize this moment and spark some life-changing conversations!
