Here is a recap of our message from this weekend...
The Elephant in the Church: Understanding the Significance of Suffering
In "The Significance of Suffering," Pastor Jared dove into how suffering, a universal experience, plays a crucial role in our spiritual growth and relationship with God. By sharing personal stories and biblical insights, he illustrated that suffering not only tests our faith but can also lead us to our God given purpose. Through the lens of scripture and personal reflection, we learn that our trials are not just obstacles but opportunities for deepening our faith, understanding God's design for our lives, and recognizing that in our darkest moments, God still has a move to make.
BRAND. NEW. SERIES.
Pastor Jared introduced a new sermon series, "The Elephant in the Church," aimed at tackling difficult topics within the Christian faith. The focus of this series kickoff is on suffering—a universal experience that shapes our existence and tests our faith.
Using the story of Ananias and Paul from Acts 9 as a cornerstone, the sermon explored how suffering is not just an inevitable part of life but something that expands our faith, sanctifies us, and ultimately aligns us with God's purpose.
Through suffering, we seek God like never before, confronting our weaknesses and overcoming the very obstacles that are used to rob us of our peace and our joy. This process of sanctification, while painful, molds us into the image of Christ, helping us to fulfill our God-given purpose.
Weekly Bible Study List
- Acts 9:15-16 - God's call for Paul to suffer for His name shows suffering's integral role in fulfilling God's purpose.
- Romans 5:3-4 - Suffering leads to perseverance, character, and hope, illustrating the positive outcomes of enduring hardship.
- Matthew 16:18 - Jesus's proclamation about building His church demonstrates that faith's foundation is often laid in the trials we face.
- 1 Peter 5:10 - A reminder that after suffering, God Himself will restore, strengthen, and steady us.
3 Things To Understand About Suffering:
- Suffering Expands Faith: It's in our moments of pain and struggle that our faith is stretched and grown.
- Suffering Sanctifies Us: Sanctification is the process in which something or someone is set aside for it's intended purpose. "Suffering supercharges the sanctification process."
- Suffering is Not the End: Suffering has purpose and is not final. It prepares us for a greater glory and reminds us that "the king still has one more move." Suffering has a purpose. Because many times it is the suffering of life that moves me out of what's comfortable doing and moves me into what God is calling me to become.
From Sermon to Action
Pastor Jared concludes with a powerful call to remember that in every challenge, God is working behind the scenes. He encourages the congregation to view suffering not as a defeat but as a stepping stone to greater faith and deeper communion with God.
