Call Me Crazy: Crazy Commitment

image

This message challenges us to move from casual faith to committed faith. Looking at the early church in Acts 2:42-47, we see that they weren’t just Sunday attenders—they were fully devoted to God and to each other. Commitment invites blessing, builds community, and multiplies our impact. God doesn’t call us to be spectators; He calls us to be participants in His kingdom. Are you ready to go all in?

Weekly Bible Study List

  1. Acts 2:42-47 (NIV) – "They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."
  2. Philippians 1:6 (NIV) – "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
  3. Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV) – "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another."
  4. Luke 10:1 (NIV) – "After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go."
  5. James 2:17 (NIV) – "Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead."

The Sunday Outline & Notes

Many people treat church like a casual relationship—they enjoy the benefits but avoid commitment. They show up when convenient, but the moment something requires dedication, they hesitate. In Acts 2:42-47, we see a different picture. The early believers were all-in. Their faith wasn’t a private experience but a communal commitment that changed lives daily.

1. Full Commitment Invites Full Blessing

The early church wasn’t just attending—they were devoted. And because of their full commitment, they experienced God’s favor. Casual faith produces casual results, but committed faith unlocks supernatural favor. Like a gym membership that doesn’t change your health unless you commit to the process, faith requires consistency. When we fully commit to God’s church, we position ourselves for His blessings.

2. Full Commitment Builds Healthy Community

Faith was never meant to be a solo journey. The early believers shared everything—they encouraged one another, met needs, and built a family. Too often, we treat faith like a one-person job, but Jesus sent His disciples two by two because spiritual growth happens in community. If your faith feels stagnant, maybe it’s not a personal issue but a proximity issue—who are you surrounding yourself with?

3. Full Commitment Multiplies Your Impact

A single domino falling is insignificant, but when placed in a line, one small push can start an unstoppable movement. In the same way, one person’s commitment can spark revival, but a committed church can transform a city. Acts 2:47 shows that because of their commitment, the Lord added to their number daily. What if we all went all-in?
