Here is a recap of our message from this weekend...
Christmas at One City: Overpacked
REMINDER: WE ARE ONLINE ONLY ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 29TH, 2024 AT 10AM WITH OUR ANNUAL RECAP SUNDAY.
The sermon at One City Church, led by Pastor Jared, focused on the story of Jesus' birth and the importance of making room for Him in our lives. The message emphasized that Jesus does not require our lives to be perfect for Him to enter; He simply needs us to make space for Him. The sermon highlighted the need to clear the clutter in our lives, trust God's timing, and carry His presence with us everywhere we go. Pastor Jared used the metaphor of an overpacked suitcase to illustrate how we often fill our lives with unnecessary things, leaving no room for Jesus. The sermon concluded with a call to action for the congregation to make room for Jesus and trust in His provision and timing.
Weekly Bible Study List
- Luke 2:6-7: "While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger because there was no guest room available for them."
- Matthew 6:33: "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
- Philippians 4:19: "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus."
- Revelation 3:20: "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me."
3 WAYS TO STEP INTO TRANSFORMATION
- Clear the Clutter - Often, we focus on the mess of our lives and miss the blessings on their way. Just as Bethlehem was too full for Jesus, our lives can become so crowded that we unintentionally leave Him out. Jesus doesn’t require perfection, only space. He asks us to seek His kingdom first, promising that all other things will fall into place (Matthew 6:33).
- Trust God's Timing - God’s provision is always perfect, even when it doesn’t align with our expectations. Mary and Joseph found a stable—not a second option, but God’s intended place for Jesus’ birth. Philippians 4:19 reminds us that God will meet all our needs. Trusting His timing can transform seemingly hopeless situations into testimonies of His faithfulness.
- Carry His Presence - Inviting Jesus into our lives changes everything. It’s not about acknowledging Him once a year at Christmas or once a week at church, but about carrying His presence daily. Wherever we go, His love, grace, and power go with us, transforming every room, relationship, and decision.
From Sermon to Action
This week, identify one area of your life where you can make more room for Jesus. Whether it's setting aside time for prayer, reducing distractions, or serving others, take a step towards inviting His presence into your daily routine.
