God Is Making You Stand

A word for the week when it feels like others are moving ahead.

As you all start the week, don’t get weary in well doing.

It can be hard. We look at the people around us who lack character and integrity, who seemingly aren’t following God, who seem to be living in sin, lying, cheating, stealing, and doing everything else under the sun—and then we watch them seemingly get blessed.

And it makes us wonder:

Lord, when is it our turn?

While writing this, the Lord brought me to Psalm 48:8:

As we have heard,

so we have seen

in the city of the Lord Almighty,

in the city of our God:

God makes her secure

forever.

God is making us secure forever!!! Definition: being protected from danger, firmly fastened in place, or successfully obtained. Security comes with lasting power.

Security is like the Ark of Noah. It has the ability to withstand the winds and waves of a mighty storm while God judges the wicked.

So what does that mean for us?

It means we take the advice of David and do not fret over the wicked (and their temporary success) or be envious of those who are doing wrong. Because like grass, they will soon wither away.

Instead, trust in the Lord and do good.

He’s putting you in His pasture.

And that pasture WILL STAND while the rest of the earth is moving.

It may seem like things aren’t moving.

It may feel like you are in the same place.

But you are not stuck.

God is making you stand.

You just haven’t seen the waves hit yet.

We have to become so focused on God’s direction, and have so much faith that He will do what He said He will do, that we stop looking to the right and to the left.

Keep building.

Keep trusting His process.

Keep doing what He told you to do.

Because it is God’s process that builds us up.

He is not just going to take you into the land.

He is going to make sure you have the character to possess the land and be fruitful in it when you get there.

And sometimes we don’t even see the areas within ourselves that are keeping us from possessing it.

We are called to have dominion.

But you cannot have dominion when anything in you still feels like a grasshopper.

Sometimes God will let you face a giant just to show you what He already put inside of you.

I believe that if David had never taken down Goliath, he would have remained a shepherd boy instead of a King. That battle pulled the king out of David.

So maybe it isn’t that the wicked are getting ahead.

Maybe God is not holding you back.

Maybe He is building something in you that has to be built before you can carry what He’s giving you.

Maybe God is trying to KING you but you can't see it because you're focusing on what everyone else has going on.

Take on what lies before you and focus on YOUR RACE!

So, Face the giant.

Build the ark.

Stay in his pasture.

Possess your territory.

Put on the crown.

Don’t get weary in well doing.

We’re in a time where God is handling the wicked.

You handle YOUR business with God and lord the territory He has assigned you until He says otherwise.

You are not stuck.

God is making you stand.
