Happy Sunday,
Leadership in the Moments Nobody Sees
Leadership is not only what happens in the meeting.
It is also what people see you do when nobody is asking you to do anything.
In Episode 152 of Leadership in Manufacturing, Colin Strother, Executive Vice President at Rochester Electronics, shares practical lessons about trust, authenticity, customer commitment, global teams, confidence, and leading by example.
Here are 3 insights, 2 quotes, 1 practical tip, and 1 challenge to take into your week.
Three Insights
I. Trust comes before influence..
People cannot fully support a vision until they trust the person communicating it.
Colin connects authenticity directly to execution. A leader may have the vision, but the work only moves when other people understand it, believe in it, and help turn it into plans, objectives, and results.
Trust is not separate from performance. It is what makes performance through other people possible.
II. Customers need choice, not one perfect channel.
Customers do not always want the same kind of interaction.
They may want face-to-face contact when trust needs to be built, a phone call when they need a quick answer, or digital service when speed and convenience matter most.
