I'm in an Oprah sort of mood today: You get a book! And you get a book!
Specifically: Subversive, my romantic fantasy about a woman resisting wizards in a twisted version of America and the wizard who hires her, is free on Amazon for the next few days.
If you already have this book, you are the best and deserve all the nice things people say about you. You can pass on the word about the freebie and feel a bit like Oprah, too.
For those of you who don't have it, here are the opening lines:
Wizards never came to Ellicott Mills anymore. Beatrix stared at the contrary specimen striding toward her and had a fleeting thought—more of a hope, really—that he simply needed directions to some other place.
It's the first book in the Clandestine Magic trilogy, which was so much fun to write. Thank you to everyone who's read it, and extra brownie points for all who've reviewed. I'm a slow writer, so knowing you like it is a very helpful kick in the pants to keep getting words down in the book I'm working on now.
If you've read and meant to review, it's never too late. Amazon, Goodreads, BookBub, a book blog — wherever you like. You'll help other readers figure out if this somewhat genre-bending book is for them.
Yet another chance to be a bit like Oprah. 😃

A few more cool & bookish things
Deal alert: Fantasy romance author Jessica Wayne has a new book you can grab for just 99 cents while on preorder (and get a cool gift into the bargain). Here's what Accidental Fae is about:
Ember is dying.
Orphaned and unexplainably ill, Ember buys a one-way ticket to Ireland in hopes of finding peace before she passes onto the afterlife. But a wrong turn lands her in the clutches of a ruthless fae king, and Ember quickly realizes there are fates worse than death.
Held captive in his own castle.
Imprisoned beneath the castle he should have been ruling, Rafferty's barely surviving when a fiery stranger stumbles down the steps and illuminates a part of him he long believed lost forever. Trusting her may be his only option, but Rafferty has a curse of his own, and letting her too close could prove deadly to them both.
Want still more books? (Of course. Who doesn't?) These fantasy romance reads are free on Kindle Unlimited, from a cool twist on vampires (the real monsters are the humans) to a guy wrestling with whether he loves a werewolf or just loves the idea of being in love with a werewolf. Find them here.
Want free-for-everyone romantic fantasy? Find those books here, sprinkled with dragon shifters, brand-new vampires, a fortune teller and a Greek demigod.
You made it to the end! You're awesome. (And oh hey, here are my latest books. In an America run by wizards and 100 years behind on women's rights, she resists. He's the wizard who just hired her.)
