I'm sorry I missed September's newsletter. I was still somewhere between conference buzz and coastal recharge. But I’m back now, coffee in hand, writing cave reassembled, and ready to dive deep into Trinket Bay’s last book.

Some important certificates arrived while I was away. I'm so thrilled to have placed first in the RWNZ (Romance Writers of New Zealand) Great Beginnings contest. Thank you to their judges and to Australian agent Alex Adsett and HarperCollins (North America) editor Kathleen Scheibling for believing in the opening chapters of my story.
I'm a fan of the beautiful rosettes that arrived with my certificates. Aren't they gorgeous?
The RWAus conference was packed to the brim with amazing workshops and social events, and I had a fabulous time catching up with writing friends and learning more about the writing craft. One of my favourite workshops was Rachel Bailey's Troubleshooting the Saggy Middle. It was a brilliant, not to mention standing room only session, which goes to show I'm not the only author who struggles with the middle of their books.
I also hunted down that inner 'brave' writer and pitched a manuscript to an amazing publisher who was absolutely lovely. Yes, my hands were shaking when I walked in, but I floated out on a cloud when she asked for the full manuscript. Then I ran up to my room so I could squeal in private.
For now, all I can do is wait and keep my fingers and everything else crossed and hope it turns into something worth shouting about.
And yes, there’s a Stuff Your Kindle Day coming up. I can’t spill the details yet, but it will be a treat for those of you who love their mystery and suspense.
