Because I wrote my Nature Wizard series from my home in Eugene, Oregon, it's easy for me to skip away to the many places main character Ina visits in the nearby Cascade wilderness. A few weeks ago, I visited Cape Perpetua, which is where much of the coastal action happens in Chasing Lightning, the first book of the series. The tide was the lowest that I've ever seen it, meaning that water spout Thor's Well wasn't very active, but it made for some great tide pools.
I visited this small inlet, which is where I imagine Ina slipped under the water to find the sea cave where the cockatrice dwells.
During my day trip, I stopped in downtown Florence, Oregon and spied some postcards while grabbing a bite for dinner. This reminded me of my editor and fellow author, Lori Drake, who often sends postcards to her readers as a fun free perk. So on a whim, I picked up some postcards, just for you.
Oregon takes pretty pictures in all the colors.
