Got a question last week:
"Carl I love the program. Made my best gains in the last year. But getting bored with the exercises. Should I switch them up to speed up progress?"
Makes sense, right? Not so fast.
When you try new exercises, your strength increases quickly because you're starting from a low base.
While you're gaining strength in your new exercises, you're losing it in the ones you're no longer doing. This means you're essentially detraining some muscles while training others.
Trading gains instead of making more total gains.
In my opinion, most people change exercises too often, and there's expert opinion and data to back this up:

Bottom line, for the fastest gains, focus on a few exercises you enjoy and get as strong as possible in those.
Try new ones once in a while, but keep doing your old favorites. This is the approach we automate in Dr. Muscle.
If you prefer variety, feel free to mix it up, but just keep in mind it might slow your progress.
To your gains,
